Avery Zickar is a rising third year biochemistry major at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, Georgia, USA). Her post-undergraduate plans include physician assistant school and wishes work in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
At Georgia Tech, she plays clarinet in the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Marching Band and bass clarinet in the Georgia Tech Symphonic Band. Avery is a Sister in Tau Beta Sigma, the National Honorary Band Service Sorority which serves the entire band program. Outside of the academic sphere, she enjoys photography, horseback riding, going to the movies, and spending time with her loved ones.
Her background in photography began when she was very young, playing with her own point-and-shoot camera in her backyard. She received her first Nikon CoolPix P100 in her freshman year of high school. Three short years later, she mentored with Chuck Williams Photography as part of her senior project, learning all there is to know about professional photography and advanced camera usage. She has photographed various events around the Georgia Tech campus, including Greek events such as semi-formal dances and concerts.
Avery’s love for macarons is in its infancy. She is fortunate to have such a great taste in French cuisine and a willingness to go to the gym several times a week.
